Gilbert Medida, PA-C, MPH

Gilbert Medida was born in Manila, Philippines. His family immigrated to Staten Island, New York when he was seven years old. During early youth, Gilbert's family surrounded him with the arts, classical music and culture which motivated him to perform. He began his musical studies at the age of five, learning to play the piano classics of his favorite composers: Chopin, Beethoven, Bach and Mozart.

During his teen years, Gilbert began to pursue the study of other forms of art, which included drawing, painting, sculpture, dance and singing. He continued this path to college where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music, with honors, from Hunter College in New York City. Gilbert focused his training in piano performance, composition, and education with a Minor in voice. In addition to his piano and voice studies, Gilbert was part of an Off-Broadway company called 'Folklorico' where he performed voice and dance for two years.

When not performing, Gilbert volunteered at the Bayley Seton Hospital in NYC exploring patient care, since he wanted to make a greater contribution in people's lives. This was the impetus for Gilbert to engage in a career in healthcare. He went on to pursue his graduate studies at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies as well as a Master of Public Health Degree, in 2002, with honors.

Since achieving his degree and licensure as a Physician Assistant, Gilbert has worked solely as a Dermatology-specialized Physician Assistant. He chose Dermatology as his specialty because he was intrigued by the diversity of the field, and the impact that he could make on patient care. Gilbert is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
